Peer Review

Articles sent for publication to Különbség are submitted to a process of double-blind peer review. Authors remain anonymous for reviewers all through the review process. Please study the process below, and carefully observe all requirements before sending papers.

Manuscripts submitted for review and publication are accepted or refused on the basis of the reviewers’ evaluations and recommendations. General criteria for accepting manuscripts for review are the following: compliance with the disciplinary profiles of the Journal, compliance with quality standards, compliance with Style and Format Guidelines, compliance with Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

Manuscripts failing to meet these entry criteria are not submitted to peer review, but rejected for reasons of inadequacy or non-compliance. Accepted manuscripts are sent to two specialists preeminent in the research field relevant to the paper for review. Specialists evaluate the paper independently and remain anonymous both for each other and the author. Author remains anonymous for reviewers all through the review and publication process. Criteria for accepting papers for publication include the following: novelty and clarity of the theses argued for, compliance with general quality expectations prevalent in the relevant discipline, compliance with research methods, argumentation, style, etc. professionally used in the relevant discipline.

If reviewers recommend the manuscript for publication, it is sent back to author with comments and suggestions for corrections. Papers corrected and resent by author are sent to the two reviewers a second time, who either definitively accept the paper or send it back with further comments or suggestions. If author fails to cooperate or refuses to consider suggestions for corrections, the Editor in Chief is authorized to reject the paper in any phase of the review process. Once the reviewers and the Editor in Chief approve of the paper for publication, author is notified about it, together with the projected time of publication.
